Enhancing Our Entryway {Farmhouse Style}

Have you ever noticed that changing just a couple of things in a room can give it a very different feel? This happened recently in our entryway.

We brought in a lamp that is both contemporary, with a slightly industrial feel, and vintage, with the Edison-inspired lightbulb. It's a little unexpected, and I like that. ;)

I can't get enough of eucalyptus these days and added a few
stems of kale for a rustic autumn bouquet.

We also added a rug to the entryway (our floors were bare over the summer). I think we've finally found the perfect size for this space (5 1/2' x 4'). It's soft to the touch, has the right thickness so that the door can open over it easily, without catching, and has a grip backing so it doesn't slide around. All this, plus it reminds me of a grain sack design. Sometimes it's the little things...like a doormat or rug! :)

I'm so glad you dropped by today!
I'm wondering if you have any exciting plans for the weekend?

We'll be celebrating our oldest son turning 12, attending some of our boys' sporting events, heading to church on Sunday, followed by Hudson's family birthday dinner at my parents. Not every weekend is this cheery, but I'm so grateful for this one! :)

Wishing you a big dose of joy this fall day...

Xo

  2. Happy Big 12 and in a year my friend you will have a teenager :)
    Love your farmhouse entryway with a Swedish twist to it. The clock is amazing.

    I did the same thing a month ago with moving everything off a main wall in my front room and adding an armoire to the space, it changed the whole vibe and look of the space.

    Love all you inspire, enjoy your weekend.

    1. Be still my heart... a teenager! Nothing provides on-the-job training like parenthood. :) Yes, I remember you moving in the armoire - a beautiful statement piece.

    1. Thank you - the story behind the dresser (which I bought through Craigslist ;) is that it was once on the cover of Southern Living. When the son and his wife inherited it, they preferred modern decor so it collected dust - - until they sold it to us for a very reasonable price!
