Our New Farmhouse Dining Room Chairs {and the gasp heard round the world!}

I haven't been doing many home projects this summer. Unless we can define "home projects" as laundry and dishes...? With three growing boys on summer vacation, we've been busy living. I know you can relate, top that, or at least imagine the full-of-life days.

But, I did want to share with you what happened to me last week, that just might motivate you to visit that thrift shop you've given up on, or follow those hand-drawn yard sale signs the next time you see them...

For months I've been keeping my eye on the Madeleine chairs at Restoration Hardware. If ever there was going to be a buy one, get five free sale, I was ready for it. (Still waiting.)

This past weekend, after a little shopping at HomeGoods and TJ Maxx, my sister and I decided to run into a thrift shop. The gasp I let out was so loud I might have been embarrassed if I hadn't been so excited! Two of the chairs I'd been wanting from Restoration Hardware were there for... $4.99 each. Did I mention I had a 30% off coupon? So for $3.50 a piece, my chair dreams were coming true! :)

True, there were only two chairs, not six, but I love the way the chairs look at each end of our farmhouse table. I also like the interest of having different styles of chairs at the table. (That's not to say I haven't stopped in that same thrift shop a few times, just in case they unloaded any more of the chairs... )

And when we're in the car, or there are a few quiet minutes at home, I start thinking about a few home projects I'll tackle this fall. But for now, we're enjoying these warm summer days with family and friends. I hope you are too...

Thank you for stopping by today.

What are you on the hunt for? Any great finds this summer? I'd love to hear!

Xo

  4. YOWZER! What a score. The thrift stores in my area are filled with mostly junk, not even good junk. I'm on the hunt for a new buffet/sideboard that I can paint...... for under $200.00. It's been difficult, I've found a few but the prices are astounding. So the hunt continues, but that's part of the fun, you never know....one day maybe I'll be letting out a gasp heard far and wide!

    1. The thrift stores in my area used to have really good stuff on a pretty regular basis. But now it's all junky junk and if you do find something nice, it's outrageously overpriced! So I'm somewhat envious that other areas have good junk, lol! We may have to go back to garage sales to find good junk my friend!

  5. What a find! I have had my eye on those chairs too and there have been some knock offs but none seem to capture what draws me to these from RH.

  8. Wow! Last weekend I went to a great barn sale. I got 2 french marmalade jars for free! They were in perfect condition! They were marked .50 each, but since I purchased several things they threw them in for free! I got several Crocks as well! I love summer sales!
