Faith For A Farm {Meg's Story}

I received an email, a few months ago, that I don't think I'll ever forget. It was from a dear lady, named Meg, who had a simple question about a pillow she'd seen in one of our pictures. We exchanged some emails, and through them, I learned a bit of her amazing story. With her permission, I'd like to share it with you...

In the first year of our search (for a farmhouse) our agent called us about a house that seemed to have all that we were looking for.  When she mentioned to the other agents in her office that she was going to show it to us, they asked her if her buyers were renovators because the place needed to be gutted and renovated.  We were willing to paint, paper, carpet, but we were not renovators, so the appointment was cancelled.

Three years later we were still looking. We had seen everything available on the market. We were only looking at new listings with our criteria as they came on the market.  One day our agent called letting us know about a house that was coming on the market that day and we ran over to look at it.  As we pulled in the drive, something clicked with our agent and she said, "Remember that house that you wanted to see three years ago that needed to be renovated?  I think this is that house!" And it was!!!

We walked around to the back of the house, looked into the dining room through the french doors on the back porch, and without even going in the house, I said, "This is it!"  I had found my dream!  Someone had bought it and renovated it.  Even the color scheme matched my furniture and accessories.

That was 17 years ago.

Our farmhouse was built in 1840 and at one time was called Pleasant Hill Farm. My husband did extensive landscaping on the outside (his forte') and we began our "perfect life" with our children in the country.

Four years later, almost to the day, my dear sweet husband suffered a massive heart attack (at 46 years old) and went home to be with his Lord.

I can't go into all of the details right now of the following years, but I can say the Lord has been very sweet to me.  He has taken me through very, very dark valleys and brought me out on mountain tops.  He has supplied all of my needs, physically, mentally and emotionally.  He has been my rock, my strong tower to which I have run.

Four and a half years later, I married a man who had lost his wife to cancer.  He is a pastor and a church planter.  The church I had been attending all along called him to start a church in our area.  We have been married for 8 years now.  Together we have 9 children and 16 grandchildren.  The story of how we met is so amazing only God could have done it.  And He did.

Wow! What a story. What a testimony of God's great love and faithfulness. I love how Meg writes that the Lord has been "very sweet" to her. Don't you just want to sit down with Meg and hear every last detail?

Meg, thank you for sharing your story with us. We'd love to hear more! So, if you ever can find the time, we're all ears. (And, she said she will try to send some more pictures of the farmhouse. Ahhhh, to be able to see inside those beautiful farmhouse windows...)

Have a blessed Sunday!

Xo

  5. That makes your Little Farmstead all that more precious to you I'm sure, to know there were fellow believers there before you. I definitely would love to hear more. I love hearing about the sweetness of God in people's lives. Thanks for sharing this!

  6. What a wonderful story! It's hard to read about someone dying so young though. I'm 50, so to me 46 is young. It's good that she was able to find happiness again. Her farmhouse is beautiful.
