Creating a Farmhouse Style Living Room

Happy weekend!

Just thought I'd share some pictures of our living room with you today. You may notice that I'm only sharing part of the room. The other parts of the room don't quite feel finished - but I have some plans! Stay tuned. ;)

So what gives this room farmhouse style?

I think that using humble, but interesting, pieces gives the room farmhouse flair. A picnic bench takes the place of a coffee table and an orchard ladder for displaying linens doubles as wall art.

Now is a great time of year to make some of these affordable and quick
book page candles.

My sister made me the cozy sweater pillow and you may remember the
5-minute chair makeover that gave this chair a rustic, deconstructed feel.

Ticking pillows paired with more 'modern farmhouse' arrow and teepee pillows help keep this room feeling fresh.

A fireplace mantel, filled with stacked firewood, gives the room an architectural focal point at a relatively affordable price. And a simple gray antique corner hutch provides the room with added depth.

Thank you for visiting and have a happy Halloween!

  4. I am in love with that last photo in your header collage. I remember sewing my first and only ticking pillows in the early nineties. I made them to match a garage sale couch I bought upholstered in ticking. I recall I donated that couch to the victims of one of the bad tornadoes in OK.

    1. So glad you like the header photo. That was nice of you to donate your ticking couch. Now if only I could track down the owner... :)
