A mini escape to the city... (Seattle)

Almost everything about our 24-hour getaway was a departure from our day-to-day life. We were in the city. Just the two of us. We were surrounded by the hotel's warm color palette, with rich autumn hues...

When we checked into the Hotel Sorrento for our anniversary stay, we were greeted by, "Welcome back to 1909 at the Hotel Sorrento." And it truly felt like stepping back in time.

It seems like people are always gathering in the lobby - whether for live music, happy hour or dinner. It's a happy and nostalgic place to relax.

This was our second time staying at the hotel, and this visit, they upgraded us to a 700 square-foot suite for our anniversary! It was so spacious and had a presidential feel. (Maybe it was the portrait. ;) Does anyone know who that is? We never did figure it out.)

Speaking of presidential, as we drove towards our hotel, traffic came to a complete stop. There was a large motorcade passing by, and then we saw one of the presidential candidates in the backseat of one of the SUVs, waving! (I have the video to prove it. ;)

No visit to Seattle is complete without a stop at Pike's Market...

We picked up a large bouquet of autumn flowers for my parents, who were treating our boys to a fun time while we were away.

My husband and I shared lobster tacos, and ducked in and out of the rain to some favorite shops.

It was a special weekend celebrating our "sweet 16" years of marriage together. I am so grateful for my husband and the family God has blessed us with!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope your week is off to a great start!
