A Custom Vintage Farmhouse Style Sign

I felt like an 8-year-old on Christmas morning when I saw the brown paper package from Castle and Cottage Signs. I couldn't open it quickly enough!

This one-of-a-kind, hand-painted sign, by the talented Paula Small, was exactly what I'd hoped for. I was going to write that it "looks like it was made for" our entryway. Then I realized, it actually was. ;)

Before Christmas, I won a sign of my choice on a giveaway over at Fishtail Cottage. (So fun, right?!) Having a custom made sign was one of the choices. I asked Paula if she could make us a sign for our home, which we call our "Little Farmstead." I also asked if she could include the year that we moved in, when it was "established."

Paula was so professional and kind throughout the process. She sent us several designs to choose from. And while I liked this one the best, it was hard to decide, because they were all so well done!

Since we moved here two years ago, I have pictured a sign, just like this, above the coat closet in our entryway. I love the distressed detail Paula gave the sign.

It truly looks like a vintage, time-worn sign.

If you are in the market for a custom sign for yourself or to give as a gift, you'll want to visit Castle and Cottage Signs...

See you soon... This inspires me to get creating some signs again.

  7. Hey Julie - love the new sign....What a perfect addition to your farmhouse and decor! I also love the "peek" at the gallery wall in your stairwell - do you have a post about that? If so, can you send me a link? I'm gathering pictures and other items for a stairwell gallery wall, and am a little intimidated! Would love to see how you did yours and the complete project. Thanks!

  12. Congratulations on your win. That sign looks great. My wife and I are in the market for a custom sign and your post has been an inspiration to us. We are looking for something to put above the entry to our family room. Something that makes for a cozy, comfortable living space and a sign that encompasses that would do.

  13. I wanted to pass something on to your readers that can really protect them. When you buy a new house, the very first thing that you should be doing is either calling in a locksmith to change the locks or do the replacement yourself. Do every door that has a lock because you never know how many copies are out there.
