And now I'd love to show you our farmhouse dining room, decorated for Christmas...

When I first came across the birch log candle holders for our new little retail space, I stashed some at home with dreams of a nature-inspired winter mantel. My husband kept finding them and asking - Didn't I want to take the rest of those into the shop? I kept dodging the question, and now he's probably figured out why...
You can find similar birch log candle holders here and the mini wreaths at Trader Joe's.
A friend and I recently had fun scouring a local vintage market where I found this green-striped vintage European grain sack. My mom made it into a beautiful table runner for us.
I scored the vintage green trunk beneath the mantel at a thrift shop years ago for under $10. I pull it out of the barn each Christmas, but it has never appeared in the same spot in our house twice. Trunks were made to travel, right?
One of my favorite things to plan when entertaining are the favors! This year, I was inspired by the ginger baby jars I saw at Starbucks and decided to make my own. Who wouldn't love a jar filled with mini gingerbread men? Our boys were happy to find that it wasn't just a candle they were smelling this time! In fact, they were such great taste-testers that I'm about to make a few more batches...
I thought I would show off my Dundee crock collection below, which at last count was... one. (Hint, hint to my family.) That English ironstone with black transferware lettering gets me every time. Well, at least it got me once...
This hand-made Merry & Bright sign is new to our home this year. I found it when we were in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for Thanksgiving at a really fun shop called Junk on 4th Street. If you're ever in the area, you should check it out. (Hooray for small businesses and the dreams they represent!)
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a beautiful and blessed Christmas season!

Thank you so much for stopping by Pamela! I always love it when you visit. :) Hope you have a wonderful Christmastime!
DeleteSo many lovely things to admire in your dining room Julie. I love that new sign you picked up, but my favourite piece was the grain sack runner your mum made. What a find!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you Kerryanne! I will treasure that grain sack table runner. The green stripe was a big decorating departure for me. Lol. I've used a red striped one for the past year or two. Merry Christmas!
DeleteI love your house so much I had to come back for a second and third look. Two things I was wondering, where is the red tractor seat this year? and where did you get the jars for your mini gingerbread men. Love everything.
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
You are always so generous Pamela, thank you. First, thank you for reminding me about the red tractor seat... it's in the barn but I will bring it in! (What would I do without you?) And, the jars are from the $3 bins at Target. I thought about just doing mason jars but these had a cute ribbing texture and the red and white baker's twine already on them. ;)
DeleteSo cute Julie ! Nice job !
