DIY ~ A Charming Winter Wreath

I've never seen a cozier wreath...
though I'm thinking it's probably torture for our cats! ;)

I saw the inspiration here via Pinterest. I love all the texture
and warmth the wreath adds to an after-Christmas, but still winter, porch.

I chose grey, white and two shades of sand-colored yarn.

I used a straw wreath because that's what I had on-hand.
A styrofoam wreath would also work.

I wrapped the wreath in burlap for a more finished-looking base.

Then I began winding yarn around varying sizes of styrofoam balls. This took forever awhile. This is one of those projects that is great to do while doing something else. Our youngest son loves me to watch him play basketball on an inside hoop upstairs. He was all too happy to have me sit on the bed with my basket of yarn and styrofoam balls while I cheered on his "team." :)

I attached the yarn-wrapped balls to the wreath using as many U-pins (found in the floral department of craft stores) as I had. For the remaining balls, I simply used my hot glue gun to glue them in place. It's best to attach the larger balls first and then fill in gaps with the smaller ones.

And that's pretty much it! To me, this is the perfect January - February wreath!

I've found lots of great new inspiration on Pinterest. I'd love it if you joined me here!

Have a great day friends...

  2. Such a cozy welcoming wreath, couldn't you see this hanging also on the door of a hometown yarn shop even weaving knitting needles in them.
I have been working with wool these days for my esty shop, not quite there with my pieces, but am so enjoying the comeback in the trend of cozy knits in home decor....thank you you Nordic bloggers who love your wools.

You always inspire warmth Julie, and we adore you for one of those very reasons.

    Beautifully inspiring weekend to you.

    1. Yes! I actually did think of knitting needles for a split second before remembering our three young boys and how they love "swords" or anything that doubles as them. ;) Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I love your knit pillow you showed on your blog the other day and look forward to seeing more pieces!

  13. Actually, I think no one has ever had the culminate house. It's all fair a matter of concealing its imperfections imaginatively. And with windows, it's exceptionally simple to be imaginative. Another window inconvenience you'll creatively resolve is the matter of security. House Painters Slidell
