Seattle Magazine!

Happy 2015!

Some exciting news around here... Our home is featured in this month's (January) issue of Seattle Magazine! It's part of the "Home as Sanctuary" series.

Here are some of the pictures included in the article...

The magazine highlighted "three Seattle-area hideaways [that] offer respite from the hectic everyday." Included is an island home built for one, with a serene and minimalist design. Next shown, is a light-filled cabin on Hood Canal's heavily forested Dabob Bay. And then, there's our "vintage-farmhouse-inspired home." Each of the homes has a very distinct feel. I wouldn't mind spending some time in each of them!

The article on our home is titled "Betting the Farm -  A Growing Family Takes Root in Small-Town Washington." I am grateful that the writer really captured our family's story of moving to our little farmstead and why it means so much to us.

Here's the cover - - in case you see it in the check-out line!

Did you have a fun time ringing in the new year?

Our eight-year-old is on day seven of a fever and our littlest is recovering from a bad cold and cough. So, we stayed tucked-in at home last night.

I made a cake, but when one of our boys (who shall remain nameless), tugged open the refrigerator door, the cake fell out, shattering the cake plate and infusing the cake with glass shards. Everyone was disappointed (ice cream sundaes helped a little). The boys still enjoyed the clocks, but opened the last three at 10 pm before calling it a night.

Though sleep-deprived and fighting crankiness (my own! :),
I'm thankful for the gift of today and the start of a new year.

I hope 2015 is your best year yet... I have a good feeling!

  4. Congrats girl! Being that i too lived in the 70's in a small Town of Washington ( Redmond) and lake Washington so understand this small country town living. I so wish we could purshase this magazine here in California as well, but will depend on you to post more of your feature and the rooms and spaces you shared.

So sorry to hear you have all taken ill, I am just getting over this terrible flu/cold and that cough that goes along with it is horrific :(
I am so looking forward to all that you will be inspiring here on your farm.
Many blessings to you and yours this 2015

    1. Oh that's right - we have swapped locations! I moved from the Bay Area then OC to the Seattle area. Redmond has grown up SO much... but there are still great country settings nearby.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Your photography, style and writing are an inspiration to me.

I hope you and your family have a very blessed 2015!
