Today, I'm happy to be participating in the bHome Christmas Event, along with several talented bloggers who are highlighted at the end of this post. If you are visiting as part of the tour, welcome!
I think our family room is tied with our kitchen as the "heart" of our home.
A lot of living happens here in this room!
(Did I mention we have three sons and a large dog?)
For Christmas, I wanted a room that was merry and bright (with lots of winter white). We brought in one of our "mountain trees" and simply strung some lights.
Our three boys are having fun each morning checking the advent buckets we hung from the nesting boxes...
The distressed lantern was a gift from my sister...
The grain sack inspired stockings were a surprise gift from my husband last year...
"Surprise" in that he didn't know he bought them for me! ;)
The grain sack pillows are my favorite Christmas addition to the room this year...
We have one antique sled on our porch, and the other here in the family room. I bought the two sleds a couple years ago, in faith that we would be moving into this farmhouse. Our previous home was on the market and we had decided to give it a few more weeks to sell, prior to taking it off the market before the holidays.
It wasn't looking too promising, but we hung on to hope. I figured that if we didn't get this farmhouse, I could sell the sleds.
A couple of weeks after we bought the sleds, we received an offer on our home and moved to our little farmstead the week before Thanksgiving two years ago! The sleds are a happy reminder of a dream come true and prayers answered...
So glad you stopped by today!
I hope you'll continue on with the tour for more unique Christmas inspiration...A special thank you to Ann from On Sutton Place and Kelly from My Soulful Home.

ReplyDeleteThank you Kerryanne. They just "get us" don't they?! :) Merry Christmas!
DeleteYour home is love, I love the lantern and the sleds everything is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo kind! Thank you.
DeleteYou always work in those cute nesting boxes each season beautifully. I love your tree! It looks like a silver tip which I wish we could get here. I love how the branches are spaced.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim... I'm actually not sure what kind of tree it is except that it was fresh off the mountain. :) I am partial to trees with lots of spacing...
DeleteYour room looks lovely and the nesting boxes make a cute advent calendar.Love the fabric garland with your 'surprise" stockings. I really admire your simple, uncluttered but interesting style.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that so much, thank you! Merry Christmas!
DeleteJulie, your home is lovely and you have decorated it beautifully for the holidays---just the perfect touches. Merry Christmas, Ardith

Kris
Thank you so much Kris! Hope you are doing well!
DeleteWow, gorgeous home and decor. that is probably my favourite advent calendar project ever! LOVE.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Not sure if you saw my post from last year, but those little buckets were originally red and green (we enjoyed the bright colors for a few years). Last year, I took some paint and a brush to them. ;)
DeleteWhat a cozy and beautiful home. Swooning over all the gorgeous inspiration.
ReplyDeleteJanet

ReplyDeleteSo cozy and comfortable! Love the simplicity!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your farmhouse. Your decor is simple and just perfect! The advent buckets are such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about the purchase of your sleds in faith for a house sale. Your home is always so lovely and comfortable, it's always a joy to see what you're doing! thanks so much for joining in for the party!
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! I love the sweet vintage sled holding presents. That's a creative way to display them. I also like the story behind the sled.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Magical and Enchantingly Simple Farmhouse Christmas Atmosphere you have Created... it is so Welcoming and I Loved the Idea of the Advent Buckets! Your Faith Story of the Sale of your Old Home and Purchase of the New One particularly Inspired me because that is where we're at in our Life Journey right now. We just moved into our Dream Home in a more Rural Setting and are sadly parting with our Old Historic Inner City Homestead which had become too much to Care for at this Season of Life. We haven't yet put it up for Sale since emptying it out and culling Possessions has been a lengthy Process that at times could be quite overwhelming and discouraging... so we too are up by Faith that everything in God's Perfect Timing will come to pass as it should be... Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteEverything is just absolutely lovely! I'm obsessed with the bucket advent calendar!
ReplyDeleteSO many beautiful details! I love the white farmhouse feel of your décor, and how sweet that your hubby surprised you ha ha ha...it's amazing that he was able to do that without even knowing. :)
ReplyDeleteCute little farm house theme. I love it.
