I'm excited to share with you some simple ideas to freshen up your home this time of year. First, I'll show you an example from our farmhouse, and then I'll provide pictures and links for where you can find something similar, if you're interested. Some affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. Let's get started...
1. Let there be lights (and ladders)!
Here in the Pacific Northwest, our winter days are short. You may have also heard about the Seattle rain and "occasional" gray skies. ;) The more light the better! Trade the twinkling lights of last month's Christmas tree for one or two strands of globe lights. I strung globe lights on a vintage orchard ladder in our family room for a pop of happy glow.
Find similar cafe lights here.
2. Make your home sing by bringing in the green!
While most of nature may be dormant, we're craving life! Bring in some plants - real or faux - who will know?
How beautiful are the boxwood topiaries below?! You can find them here.
3. Clear the clutter and make a statement!
While you're getting organized and ridding your home of clutter, swap out several smaller items for a statement piece, like this spool clock face I recently made.
4. Add some flavor to your home with herbs!
Remind yourself that the garden will soon be back with fresh, faux, or dried herbs.
Find several faux lavender options here.

Great tips. I for one am all about the pop of green lately! I have dug out a few faux items and bought two small plants just the other day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin. Me too! There's something about January that makes you crave greenery.
DeleteThat lights idea is actually pretty interesting! And a much better solution than having to gather up all that Christmas lighting and bundling them up for storage huh? Haha! Fairy lights can indeed be a very nice embellishment or accessory for somewhere in your house!
