We Should Be Friends {Farmhouse Living}

"If your mind's as cluttered as your kitchen sink...
Well then, we should be friends."

~ Miranda Lambert

Anyone else having one of those weeks? We should be friends.

And to slow down the crazy train (aka life with kids ;) I thought I'd share some peaceful pictures from our little coop. Our three ducks recently moved in with the chickens (who aren't impressed), and you won't believe how big they've gotten!

Do you remember just weeks ago when they were tiny ducklings?

They have the sweetest temperaments.

And if you could use a smile, there's this face...

We're counting down - seven days until summer vacation! And living here in the tip-top of the country, our days are getting pretty long. We're staying up late with the sun, but can't yet sleep in (soon!). We've turned our barn loft into something fun. Can't wait to share it with you...

What are your summer plans? I'd love to hear.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Xo

  1. Oh those ducks! Many years ago we lived on a small pond and bought four baby ducks. They were so tiny, and we hand fed them worms, which they sucked up like spaghetti! We watched them grow, and they would gather under the street light in the evening to gobble up June bugs. The children rode bikes, we moms in the neighborhood gathered to chat, and the ducks gathered too. We could take walks, and they would hurry to catch up with us as we strolled the neighborhood. We enjoyed this special time with them, and soon we released them to the pond. Even after they were older, if we went outside in the back, they would swim by and quack a friendly greeting.
    Fun times!

  3. Remember my Dad who I told you about enjoyed seeing your chickens and their fancy coop? Well, when I saw the ducks, I smiled big. When he was a little boy, in the 1920's, he had a couple of pet ducks in Vancouver. He told me he had them on a leash and would take them for a walk to a pond to they could enjoy a swim. I can't wait to show him these photos.

    1. Oh Pamela - that is awesome! Never heard of a duck on a leash, though when I was little I would take my rabbit out on his leash... we never got far. Lol

  4. I can’t wait to see what you have done with your barn loft. I have thought of revamping mine too during the summer days but I have yet to seek ideas. I think I need the extra space to clear up clutters around the house so the thought of creating storage seems feasible. Hopefully the days do not get too scorching for the project soon!
