It's official... happy Spring! 

I hope you are all doing well. I'm just popping in today to share a few images of early spring around our little farmstead. 

I'd been picturing a bistro table by the chicken coop for awhile now, and just recently set this one up. 

I'd love to add some pea gravel and lavender to this area...

As we head into spring, and find ourselves already in the third month of 2018, I want to thank each of you for visiting and reading along here on the blog. It really means a lot to me. I'm grateful for your comments, and also for those of you who connect with me through social media. Thank you!

This Weather is for the Birds... {Keeping Chickens and Ducks}

We'd just gotten home on Sunday, and our youngest (8) could hardly ditch his church clothes, for a pair of shorts, fast enough. You see, it was February and sunny in Seattle... something to be celebrated! Never mind it was 44 degrees (and a winter coat would soon round off his "snow day on top, beach day on bottom" look).

And then to add to the seasonal confusion, all the leaves on the ground may lead you to believe it is fall. We're a little behind on fall clean-up. Truthfully, it always takes us until spring with our little-by-little approach.

Still, the sun was shining and we felt so alive and free...

It's hard to believe it's the last week of school before our summer vacation begins!

While we are all very excited, I always get sentimental this time of year. Our oldest son will soon be an eighth-grader with just one more year until high school! (What?) Our middle son will be all done with his elementary years and will be heading to middle school (6th grade) this fall. (Totally unbelievable because he can't be older than six...at least that's how it feels to me.) Our youngest son will be in second grade (And because he's our little caboose, I can't help but think, "We will never do first grade again...").

And if you're new here, that's right. We have three sons. And white slipcovers. 
While bolstering the bleach industry, it can be done!

Anyway, since I'm in a nostalgic mood, I thought we could reminisce over some highlights of the past month here on the blog. Just in case you missed anything...

And to slow down the crazy train (aka life with kids ;) I thought I'd share some peaceful pictures from our little coop. Our three ducks recently moved in with the chickens (who aren't impressed), and you won't believe how big they've gotten!

We recently took the plunge and along with nine chicks, brought home three little ducklings. We've been keeping chickens for three years now, so we somewhat know what we're doing when it comes to chicks. Each spring, when we start talking about getting chicks, one of our boys has been faithfully asking for a duck. I wasn't sure if it was realistic since we don't have a pond or creek on our property. And, I wasn't sure how chickens and ducks would get along.

So I started asking around...
