Where's June?

If you've visited this blog before (thank you!), you know how much I've enjoyed the old chicken nesting boxes in our family room.

If you're a new visitor (so glad you're here!), just a bit of background... I spotted the nesting boxes at a favorite antique shop. Tried to forget about them, but couldn't. My husband, kind man that he is, drove his truck to the shop and picked them up for me for my birthday.

We use the nesting boxes for display and storage.

I love the aged tin patina and the touch of farm they add inside.

For Christmas, I hung our boys' advent buckets from the roosting bars...

Last night, I saw a strange site (look closely)...

Our 8-year-old, Noah, walked by and without missing a beat said,
"Oh, hi June. Did you just lay an egg?" :)

It's getting weird over here.

Tell me we're not alone!
Anything funny or unusual happening at your place?!

  2. Well, what's happening here is total envy of your chicken nesting boxes. I would love to have the nesting boxes for display, but that would mean a completely different house.

    Love your style!

  5. I adore your living room and the nesting boxes make a perfect artifact in color, shape and with what they offer as a display unit. Your kitty helps! Now if he or she would stay off the furniture and in the box to reduce the constant cleaning of cat hair this time of year. I made a new bed for my girls in the kitchen last week. Up off the ground, soft foam mattress, blankies, and neither one would use it.

  6. So really cute, June looks like she has made her own nesting place.
As for that hubby getting the nesting box for your birthday it is the most beautiful hearted thing I am sure he could have done, yep no diamond request from you, just beautiful galvanized nesting boxes :)
I had a singal row of the boxes at one time years ago and used it in my laundry room hung on the wall and it stored and displayed soaps, bleachers, hand towels hung from the perching bar and now seeing yours it make me wish I had mine to hand again in my home. Yours would also look super cute in a kitchen hung on a wall over a buffet and displaying dishes, ironstone collections, oddities like champagne buckets, silver plated servers and so on. You will never run out of uses for this fabulous find.

As for wired things happening around our home, I will have to give it some thought and get back to you.
This was a really cute post, and June has her nesting place :)

  8. Love that kitty peeking from the nesting boxes! We have a lot of cats and there surely would be multiple perpetrators trying to do that if we had a unit like that, messing with the displays, so I can relate. Too cute!

The kitten is so cute ! Thank you for sharing.
Love that you found a farm. We were living in the country side too, for years. Our two boys were born and raised there. They still say they had a wonderful time playing around the house.
