DIY {Budget} Mason Jar Stemware: 3 Ways!

I am excited to share this mason jar stemware project with you because:

a. I am loving them in our home
b. They are super easy and affordable to make
c. I think you'll love them too!

First, a little backstory... I was in a store that was going out of business, when I spotted the mason jar stemware. (Both beautiful and full of country charm!)

They were originally about $15 a piece. I scooped several up since they were very discounted due to the store closing.

When I got the mason jar stemware home, I realized that not only were there several things I could use them for, but... I could make more very easily, for a fraction of the retail price! So first, here are some ideas on how to use them...

1. Mason Jar Stemware as Vases: Cluster several for a beautiful centerpiece or use one at each plate for a pretty favor for each guest. You could even tie a place card or note around them!

2. Mason Jar Stemware as Candle Holders: These would look so nice on a dinner table (below), a fireplace mantel, coffee table... or pretty much anywhere!

The white votive candles are from the Dollar Tree (four for a dollar).

3. Mason Jar Stemware as, well, Stemware. Even though we live in the Pacific Northwest, we drink out of mason jars, as they often do in the South. The "stem" adds a touch of refinement to the simple jar, don't you think?! ;)

Here's what you'll need:

1. Jars of varying shapes and sizes (find them at the grocery store, thrift store, Target, etc.). Expect to pay $1.00 a piece.

2. Glass candle sticks. I found mine at the Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, $1.00 each.

3. Epoxy or industrial strength clear glue. I bought this E6000 at Target for about $4.00 and it worked well.

To make, apply the glue, or epoxy, around the top rim of the candlestick. Place the mason jar, centered, on top of the glue (candlestick). Let dry overnight. Voila!

Here are a couple of the finished ones - can you tell which I purchased at the retail store and which ones I made?

(Hint: Are you feeling the extra love from the two on the right?!)

Will you make some yourself? I'd love to hear!

Have a wonderful day!

Xo

  3. what a great idea! I really like them being used as candleholders. I've always liked jars being used for flowers and candles, but I don't like drinking from them. I'm even from the south too! I guess I don't like the ridges on the edge. LOL!
