A New (Vintage) White Chandelier for the Dining Room...

Happy new week everyone!

Since we moved in, almost two years ago, I've been dreaming of a new
chandelier for our dining room. It's finally here!

And now the backstory... I first worked with what we had, turning the existing chandelier into a mason jar chandelier. (You can see the post here.)

But I still hoped for something different. Something unique. Something with character. Something with a little more "presence"... Lighting that would create a warm backdrop for family dinners and times shared with friends.

Last week, my youngest son and I were out with my parents at a cute little place called Country Village. While my Dad took Lincoln to ride the train and a pony (the perfect day for a 6-year-old!), my Mom and I headed to the antique mall. We spotted a wrought iron chandelier that was a bit out of my price range. I loved the shape and scale for our home. Thankfully, the owner worked with me on the price and my husband came with the truck to pick it up.

Here are the before pictures (in our garage :).

And here are the pictures after painting...

My sister and brother-in-law came over yesterday to help us hang it up. (Bless them...it's heavy AND old.) All the cousins ran around, making up for lost play time - - since school is now back in full swing.

It occurred to me that my whole family was involved with this chandelier in one way or the other! :) I'm so grateful for their help and will cherish not only the beauty of the fixture, but the memories that are now with it.

Thank you for stopping by!

Hope you have a great day,

  1. It's a beauty and a lovely size for your space. Our kids are teens and young adults now but they still enjoy hanging out with their cousins regularly.

  2. Lovely new, old, chandelier. The lighter color makes it more of a presence than the dark color. I've been thinking of painting mine and now, seeing yours, I think it is a good idea.

  3. The iron chandelier looks great in place of the other one.... Look how much fun this one will be for holiday garland draped on it and glass ornaments.
Love how this crusty chandelier works with all your farmhouse charm.

Don't you just love when a piece is just right for a room, I had taken an outdated armoire out of storage a couple of weeks ago, and now with its new finish it sits in my front room in my new post and I feel just how you feel about your new Chandelier..... Something that just fits right in.

    See you soon.
