Welcome To Our Fall Home Tour!

Welcome!

Perhaps you're visiting as part of the Blogger's Fall Home Tour 2015 hosted by Cozy Little House. I'm excited to be a part of the tour and am so glad you stopped by today!

I'm Julie, and I live here, at our little farmstead, with my husband, our three growing boys, our dog, two cats and chickens. I enjoy decorating in a vintage farmhouse style with a soft, sun-faded palette.

We moved to our farmhouse, on just over two acres with a barn and a chicken coop, the week before Thanksgiving, two years ago. We had dreamed of a place like this, where our three sons could have room to run free and explore. We count our blessings each day as we enjoy a little bit of country living, just past the city limits.

Our porch typically "displays" enough sporting equipment, handmade
weapons and random broken sticks to sink the Titanic.

But doesn't it look peaceful in these pictures?! ;)

Have you ever made a dried hydrangea wreath? Find out how here. And, if you're interested in finding the best ways to dry hydrangeas, I'll tell you what I've found here.

This year, most of our fall decor has been kept simple and comes from nature...

We brought this chandelier in just this past week.
It makes me smile. For more reasons than one. You can read why here.

This is my little work area. Care to see before and afters of this space? Or perhaps how I made the Farm Shop sign

As you can probably tell by now, I'm drawn to whites and neutrals... They set a peaceful backdrop for our crazy full-of-life family. White also reflects light, which is especially important in the often-gray Seattle area where we live.

Since there has yet to be budget for marble countertops, I painted our dark green formica countertops white. See the transformation here.

The part of this tour that interests our boys...

I love the old farmhouse door below.
It came from a 100-year-old farmhouse and lead out to the home's barn.

If you're in the market for a cow/bull burlap pillow (below),
I noticed they are in-stock again here at Antique Farm House.

Behind the sectional, are these old tin nesting boxes that we use as storage/display shelves. You can see more pictures of them here and at Christmas, here.

People sometimes ask how white slip-covered furniture is kept clean with our boys and animals. The answer is bleach. We used to have a tan colored slip cover, which would hide minor wear better. But, when it got really dirty or stained, I couldn't bleach it. And mama loves white.

Last, I thought we could take a quick look at the garden, starting with the garden gate...I can't get enough of these vines! When we moved in (November), there was no foliage left on the gate. So you can imagine my surprise when I first saw this beauty! Most of us girls can appreciate a good hair day. And this gate has definitely got one going on!

This was our first year planting sunflowers, and I adore them. They "smile" at us through the windows and seem so full of personality, that I considered naming them. (This is getting weird. You won't hold it against me, will you? I didn't actually name them. Except for Beatrice on the end.)

Sunflowers seem to epitomize country living, which we are enjoying so much.

This season, through both difficulty and joy, we're giving thanks...

So happy you came over and I hope you'll visit again soon!

Next up on the tour is Elaine of Sunny Simple Life, sharing how she and her husband decorate for fall. I hope you'll also check out the blogs below for some fun fall inspiration!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. We bought our farm table at a thrift shop for $69 and then gave it a little TLC and paint. It's been great having a large table. Happy hunting!
