Painting a Farmhouse Corner Hutch...

I hope your day is going well...

After painting the piano, our vintage corner hutch looked like it could use some freshening up. I taped off the glass panes and painted little-by-little.

It really takes the pressure off when I allow myself to paint an hour here,
or two hours there. Even just 30 minutes at a time, when I can, rather than trying to get it all done at once.

I love the warmth of aged books.

Any little touch of nature, like this lavender plant, is welcome in winter! And the Belgium grain sack was a gift from my sister.

It's hard to believe it's almost February!

In just a few weeks, we'll be heading to Europe - the first time as a family of five. We're getting excited, but still lots to do before then...

So glad you stopped by today.

  1. What a great idea to paint a little at a time!!! I need to try that as I let my painting projects pile up until I am overwhelmed and never get to them LOL!!! All your items are so pretty, especially your books and the angel/cherub. And how exciting about your trip!!! What part of Europe are you going to?

  3. The whole painting a bit here and there, I have been know to do this myself, start at the top and work your way down so to say. It does take the stress off knowing you don't have to start a project and be expected to get it done at once. That's what keeps me from even starting big paint jobs and that's the pressure I put on myself that it has to be don't that day or witching 24 hours :)

When a project is done without rush it's a piece that really shows of the dime work put into it.
I too love old books they just add a presence to the space and use in turning them into even little pedistools for displaying pieces on top of a stack of books.
It's wonderful that you as a family will be able to have your boys experiance Europe. I am looking forward to the post where you share the sights with us.

Enjoy your paint project, and the finishing touches.
Thank, you for your beautiful visit, it joyed my day seeing your comment.

  4. I love your painted hutch! It's the perfect place to display pretty things and old books. I think I've just about painted every stick of furniture left in my house now! I love how easy it is to clean it and white furniture doesn't show dust. I have a question for you as well. Could you please send me your email address? I couldn't find it on your blog. Thanks!!

  5. My husband and I were just talking about painting our daughter's bedroom during his week off next week. We recently moved into a new house and, although all the rooms are painted nicely, the only room I don't want to change the color of is the dining room. Everything else is just not pleasing to my eye (to say the least). : ) It's definitely less stressful to think of painting for an hour or two at a time as to thinking about the whole picture. Your hutch is so pretty. I've always wanted a corner hutch like that. Have a beautiful weekend!! xo

  8. It might sound silly, but one of the things I have always wanted is a corner hutch. I don't really have a corner in the house at all where I can put one - maybe a custom made skinny one in the kitchen.

I love how you styled yours.

  9. Just lovely! Everything in this room is so calm and sweet! I'va also turned my books backward and find it adds such a serene effect to the room.
