A Farmhouse Thanksgiving Dining Room {Thankful to bHome Tour}

Welcome friends! I'm so glad you're here and hope your week is going well.

I'm happy to be joining my inspiring friends for the Thankful To bHome Blog Tour today, where I'll be sharing our Thanksgiving dining room. I hope you'll enjoy the entire tour, as well as enter the lovely and generous giveaway, at the end of this post.

There's just something about the calendar flipping to November that starts me dreaming of Christmas. (You too?) Do you ever wonder when the best time is to transition your home from fall to Christmas?

We used to wait until after Thanksgiving, but here's the problem: Since we decorate for fall in September, that's three months of fall and only one month left for Christmas. It started feeling rushed. Last year, we transitioned for Christmas early, and our three sons asked, "But what about Thanksgiving?" So here's the plan for this year...

We will keep fall - and a Thanksgiving feel - in our dining room, where we will host Thanksgiving this year. In the rest of our house, we'll ease into Christmas and enjoy decorating a little at a time, without the hurry.

I loved finding the persimmons below (that resemble little pumpkins with personality :) at Trader Joe's. Mason jars with candlelight hang from a vintage orchard ladder in the corner. We have a similar look on our front porch.

Our boys are excited to start getting our home ready for Christmas, but will not have to ask, "What about Thanksgiving?" this year. Which is good.

We have so much to give thanks for.

That includes you. Thank you for being here. It really means a lot to us.

  1. Julie, I love this idea! It really is true, fall gets a long time to be displayed in our homes in all her glory, Christmas feels a little rushed. Your dining room is the perfect place to share the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends, I love the pumpkin display on your mantel. and the lanterns hung from your ladder. How magical that must look at night, with the little candles glowing! It is a joy to be doing this bHOME Tour with you, and getting to know you. xo Lidy

    1. I feel the same way Shirley! Once the backdrop is set, it does give us more time to soak up those traditions together. Love that. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words.

  4. What a wonderful way to be introduced to new bloggers and new decorating ideas through this bHome tour. Our new home will have a California Country style and your blog will give me inspiration. I did go to The French Garden House to drool over her offerings. I love the 19th Century ironstone pedestal cake plate . That is tops on my Wish List.

  7. Julie, I can't tell you how much I love your Thanksgiving decor! I love that it's light and bright but I'm also fascinated with how you managed to use a touch of orange and still give the feel of neutral and clean. Well done! Love your idea of balancing the holidays, as well. I must ask, where are your fabulous dining chairs from?

  10. Love the airiness of your displays and neutral look that doesn't look overdone at all. I also deliberate as to when to break out the Christmas decorations not to overlook Thanksgiving but love your solution and think we'll adopt it as well. So glad you helped me figure that out! Such a lovely give away and as I have quite a pitcher collection, I don't have anything like the checked one--love it! It'd look so sweet with bright red tulips or yellow daffodils in the spring.
