Sundays at Home {Link Party}

Hi friends ~ Welcome to Sundays at Home! It was an exciting week at our house... We had a Christmas photo shoot for an upcoming project I'm working on. (I cannot wait to share it with you just as soon as I can!) So you'll forgive me for sharing a Christmas image the week before Thanksgiving? I'm finding that many people have very strong feeling on this. But rest assured, we can have thankful hearts with either trees or pumpkins in the background, can't we!

With that said, I want to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. You are among the ones I am thankful for, and I feel very blessed that you would share a small part of your day here with me... thank you!

A Barn Thanksgiving Setting...

Happy November! (How did that happen?! Wasn't it just summer?

I hope you've been enjoying the beautiful fall colors, and that you're looking forward to the holiday season!

This past weekend, we enjoyed an early Thanksgiving-style family dinner in the barn. And while I can't share all the sweet "people photos" quite yet, I thought it would be fun to show you the setting...

A must-read before the holidays...

It's Thanksgiving week, and I want to express my thanks to each of you who have blessed me with your presence here. Whether you're a first time visitor, or a weekly reader, I'm honored you would share your time with me. Thank you!

I typically post on farmhouse style decorating and living, but today I'm sharing several things that have recently caught my attention, and I think you just may find interesting too...

Sundays at Home {Link Party}

Welcome to Sundays at Home, your weekend source for inspiration of all things home - interior design, DIY projects, recipes, gardening and seasonal decor. We hope this first weekend in November is a great one for you, and we anticipate a lot of great link-ups for both the fall/Thanksgiving season and the approaching winter/Christmas season.

I took the picture above, of our side yard recently, but just yesterday we woke up to snow! It was the earliest snow in Seattle in 45 years. So we are definitely in a weather and decorating seasonal convergence zone over here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's still dark outside, the sun has yet to come up. It's quiet in our home, except for the soft patter of rain on the roof. Soon I will start peeling the sweet potatoes, and looking over recipes. I'll try to figure out how to time more casseroles and side dishes in one day than we typically have in a week.

But first, I want to express my gratitude to you.

Farmhouse Living: Weekend Inspiration

Happy weekend, friends!

Our front porch is starting to look cheery, two local radio stations have begun playing Christmas music, and our seven-year-old has officially started marking off the days on his hand-made countdown until December 25th. It's coming!

DIY "Thankful" Sign For Your Yard, Porch or House

I wanted to share a "Thankful" sign I made last year in case you missed it. This sign is easy to make, but makes a big statement with its size and simple charm.

If you're hosting Thanksgiving this year, this sign would be adorable on a fence, along a driveway or on your porch. Welcome your guests by showing them you are "Thankful" for them! You could even keep going with this sign and add, "For You." As well as using it outdoors, we used this sign (with fence) for a backdrop at an appreciation dinner.

Here's what you need:

Paint stir sticks (long and short) or yard sticks
Hot glue gun
Twine (for hanging letters)
Paint (optional)

I had originally planned to buy wood yard sticks and have them cut into 6", 12" and 24" increments. When I went to Home Depot, their large cutting saw was broken so they offered me a bunch of paint sticks (long and short) for free!
(Thank you Home Depot! ;)

Thankful [for you!]

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to thank each of you for being here… That you would read along and share this little space with me means so much!

When I count my blessings, you are among them. Though many of us haven't yet had the opportunity to meet in-person, you inspire me… to create, to share, to live more fully and to celebrate the gift of each day.

We are visiting with my husband's parents
and enjoyed a Thanksgiving morning country walk...

I'm so very thankful for my three muddy rascals, who forever will hold the keys to my heart! And for their Daddy, who anchors us and makes the journey so much more fun, I am blessed.

For the rest of my priceless family, dear friends,
our country and home, I'm humbled and grateful.

For the constant love of God in my life, no words of thanks seem enough.

I know that this has been a very difficult year for many.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Several weeks ago, I read this, written by Wendy over at the Shabby Nest. I was moved by her realness during a difficult year and her reminder that, "There is always something to be grateful for…"
