We're getting a serious dose of sunshine, and our garden is loving it!
Everything is starting to grow fast now...
This is only our second summer here, so we still have much to learn about gardening. We planted a lot of the same vegetables we did last year with a couple of new additions. We added a few pumpkins and watermelon.
We are also trying this green bean teepee...
Our garden gate is covered in vines once again.
Our oldest son, Hudson, planting greens in his garden bed. (We were grateful there were already three garden beds when we moved in. One for each of the boys!)
Since moving in, my husband has wanted to put a flag up. He installed this one from our side porch, facing the garden. We love watching it wave gently in the summer breeze over our little garden...
Our middle son, Noah, weeding beneath his green bean teepee...
Our youngest, Lincoln, planting corn.
Look how it's grown!
Happy July from our garden to yours! ;)
Your garden is wonderful. Our garden is really struggling in the drought. But I picked carrots, yellow squash, zuchini and tomatoes yesterday. I like your bean trellis. I created a wonky trellis out of bamboo for our lemon cucumbers. We did not plant beans this year...I forgot! Gardening is so wonderful for children. Mine still love it and they are in their early 20's now but we began gardening when they were babies.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the drought but it sounds like you have still been able to enjoy some favorites. I love hearing about how you started your children gardening when they were young and how they will enjoy it today as young adults!
DeleteI love your garden.
ReplyDeleteI planted a few herbs and a tomato plant. So far everything is doing fantastic.
Sounds wonderful! Enjoy those fresh herbs and tomatoes!
DeleteI really like your raised beds. Unfortunately, we are going without a garden for the first time ever. I've had a vegetable garden ever since I was a kid. We have had record breaking amounts of rain for the month of June and had major flooding in our area so we gave up on the idea. There's always next year. I love seeing your boys out there too. It's a great family experience.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your garden this year! It seems like there have been lots of extremes this year - droughts and flooding. Hopefully next year will be better for your garden! Xo
DeleteIt's so wonderful that your boys are learning such a great hobby like gardening!!! I think it is so helpful to a child's self esteem to learn how to be self-reliant, and what is more self-reliant than growing your own food!!! Kudos to you and your husband for being such wonderful parents!!! Lots of luck with all your vegetables!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The kids are mostly involved in the planting and harvesting... :) The in-between stages are more my area... ha! But I have found that they will eat things out of "their" garden that they would not have tried otherwise...
DeleteWhat a sweet garden. Looks like the boys are enjoying it as much as you are.
