Displaying Children's Artwork (Farmhouse Style)

I've been wanting to come up with a creative way to display our three sons' art.
So, when I came across these 1905 farmhouse doors, it seemed one of them would make a unique backdrop for these precious keepsakes.

A few months ago, I had purchased adhesive vinyl lettering for the Picasso quote, "Every child is an artist" from Amazon. The letters were originally black. When I tried them on the door, they fought to be the focal point, instead of the art. Thankfully, it was nothing that some white paint and a sponge brush couldn't fix. ;) I tore a piece of canvas drop cloth to make the simple "sign."

The growth chart ruler was a handmade gift from my friend Kelly. When we hung it, none of us could resist measuring ourselves (my husband included ;).

I'm enjoying these cheery additions to our laundry room, where I spend a lot of time.

I'm grateful to teach art, with my sister, at my boys' and their cousins' classes at school. These works of art remind me of my favorite little artists, and also the special times together when they were created.

Thank you for all the great vintage door project suggestions to my previous post. There is one that I am especially looking forward to trying.
(Hint: I'll need some new tools!)

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  3. Leave it to you Julie to come up with such a cute art board displaying your boys art on a salvaged door.
So true, and it tugged at my heart your posting every child is an artist. Without encouraging little artist in our lives there would not be a colourful art world.

    Beautiful endearing post.
