A Farmhouse Christmas Tour

I'm happy to be joining a a holiday tour hosted by my friend Kelly of My Soulful Home. At the end of this post, you'll find a fun giveaway, as well as links to several more tours full of Christmas inspiration...

So glad you're here!

Here at our little farmstead, we've not only decked our halls, but also the chicken coop (above)... And some of the Christmas cheer may have spilled over into the barn! I hope you'll stop by again in the weeks to come, where I'll continue to share farmhouse Christmas decorating ideas leading up to Christmas... (Too much to share in one post!)

2017 Top Ten Posts...

I want to start by saying thank you for reading our blog, and for the support you've shown us this past year. It really means so much to me! What a blessing to have this community of people who share a love for family, for home, for farmhouse design, and the simple joys of country living. It amazes me that we can be separated by miles (some of us by thousands of miles!) and still stay connected here. Turns out I am grateful for technology! And I am definitely grateful for each of you.

For the past almost four years now, I have blogged on farmhouse decorating, DIY projects, parties and gatherings, bits of our family life, mini farm living, and faith. If there are any topics you'd like to see more (or less) of here on the blog, I would love to hear about that in the comments section below. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

There will be some changes coming soon to the blog that I'm really excited about, and hope you will enjoy.

Below is a roundup of the top ten posts of 2017, based on views.
(You can read the whole posts by clicking on the pictures or links.)

1. Farmhouse Porch Ideas: Thanks to your support and a little love from Country Living, this post came in at number one! Galvanized buckets, including chicken waterers and a mop bucket, were the stars of the show.

Our Farmhouse Fall Entryway {bHOME Fall Tour}

Come in, come in! Get out of the Seattle rain and warm up in our entryway for awhile before you head off into the crisp autumn air to visit the next stop on our Love to bHOME in Fall Tour. Perhaps you're coming from Charity's beautiful home (Teaselwood Design)Welcome! I'm so happy you're here. At the end of this post, you'll find a complete list of home tours (packed with fall decorating ideas and tips) and a giveaway for a collection of velvet pumpkins. (I hope you win!)

I had fun changing up our entryway for fall. In place of an old chippy dresser, which now resides in our dining room, I brought in these antique theater seats. Extra seating in the entryway works especially well for fall and winter, when the struggle to get out of your boots is real!

A California Cottage Home Tour...

I hope your summer is going well! Just stopping in today to share a sweet little California cottage with you. Our family recently had the pleasure of staying in this home while visiting the San Francisco Bay Area.

This Airbnb cottage is located in Alamo, California - the same town I kept my horse while growing up, and just one town over from Walnut Creek, where my family lived.

In Case You Missed It! (Farmhouse Style Decorating and Tour)

Happy new week!

I don't know about you, but by the time Monday morning hits,
our house looks like we live in Tornado Alley instead of the Pacific Northwest. Laundry wrinkling as it waits patiently to be folded, a science project "work area" taking over our dining room table, basketballs and legos lying around, proving some fun happened over the weekend.

(Even though they insist there was no time yet for fun - and why oh why does Monday show up so quickly?!)

So, at the start of the week, once I get our three boys off to school, I try to catch up, and tame this chaos we call home. That's the purpose of this post. To catch up! Below you will find some of the most-read posts of the past month, including our farmhouse kitchen in the making, fun farmhouse finds, a farmhouse-style herb garden, and part two of one of my favorite farmhouse stories ever...

Think of it this way - If your weekend wasn't as relaxing as you might've hoped, now's your chance!
Grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy a few minutes to yourself as you get "caught up."

And hey, maybe that laundry really will fold itself... ;)

Sundays At Home #149

Are you as ready for spring as I am? There are rumors of snow coming on Monday, but I'm ignoring them.

We may have to wait just a bit for spring to arrive outdoors, but there's no reason it can't show up indoors now... I recently shared our early spring decor as part of the Spring at the Farmhouse Tour

Spring at the Farmhouse Tour...

The smell of hyacinths, chirping chicks covered in baby down, little boys playing baseball in the yard, cheerful cherry blossoms lining the gravel driveway... It's spring at the farmhouse!

Well it's almost spring at the farmhouse, but it is spring in the farmhouse, and I'm so glad you stopped by. It's an honor for me to be joining my talented friends on this tour today. If you're making the tour loop, you may be coming from Jersey Girl In The SouthEither way, you'll find links to all of the charming home tours at the end of this post...

I love the beautiful simplicity of farmhouse style. And spring is no exception. This time of year, I enjoy incorporating flowers in woven baskets, herbs in galvanized buckets, and flowering branches from the yard.

An 1890 Farmhouse Tour (Love of Home)

Let's head over to a small town in Western New York where Susan, who authors the blog
Love of Homehas invited us in. I know what you're thinking. I thought it too...

Is this her inspiration home, or her actual house?

It's hers.

Isn't she a beauty?!

Fall at the Farmhouse Home Tour...

I've been looking forward to this tour ever since my friend, Brenda, over at Cozy Little House asked if I'd like to participate. I loved her idea of a "blogger seasonal harvest tour because we are so thankful for our readers."

We moved here, to our little farmstead, three years ago this fall. I remember walking around the property, watching our three young boys explore, and whispering prayers of thanks. I would just about fall over when I'd hear myself say, "He's out in the barn." Because you guys. We had a barn. :)

Farmhouse Style: My Vintage Porch Home Tour

You guys. Y'all. We are in for a treat today.

I asked Natalie, of My Vintage Porch, if she would share some of her story with us, along with her beautiful home.

When I first discovered Natalie's Instagram feed, I kept looking at her pictures trying to figure out what was so unique about her farmhouse cottage style.

She's got a gift for sure.

I think part of what makes her home so special is her use of whites and neutrals with pops of black, grey, and all shades of wood, including dark woods.

Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour (2015)

Along with it being the most wonderful time of the year, I know it can also be the most busy time of the year. I'm so happy you're here and hope that this little tour will give you a five minute reprieve from your holiday "to do" list.

Feel free to linger, I'll get the coffee (tea? hot chocolate?) started.

Please come in!

Welcome to the living room, where we've added
just a couple pops of green in this mostly white room...

Welcome To Our Fall Home Tour!

Welcome!

Perhaps you're visiting as part of the Blogger's Fall Home Tour 2015 hosted by Cozy Little House. I'm excited to be a part of the tour and am so glad you stopped by today!

I'm Julie, and I live here, at our little farmstead, with my husband, our three growing boys, our dog, two cats and chickens. I enjoy decorating in a vintage farmhouse style with a soft, sun-faded palette.
