A California Cottage Home Tour...

I hope your summer is going well! Just stopping in today to share a sweet little California cottage with you. Our family recently had the pleasure of staying in this home while visiting the San Francisco Bay Area.

This Airbnb cottage is located in Alamo, California - the same town I kept my horse while growing up, and just one town over from Walnut Creek, where my family lived.

It is such a happy, light-filled cottage, with beautiful floors and an inspiring California feel.

While visiting the Bay Area, we spent time at the beach and boardwalk in Santa Cruz, rode a cable car
through San Francisco, and enjoyed lunch in beautiful Napa Valley.

It was also fun to take our boys to all of my old hangouts - my sweet little childhood home, the community pool where we spent summers, the schools and churches I attended, and the horse ranch where my 11-year-old dreams came true (thank you Dad :) by way of a half-Arabian, half-Quarter Horse mare.

Maybe it was more fun for me than the boys (ages 13, 11 and just-turned 8)... but I think they secretly enjoyed it. (The jokes were flowing freely like, "No way Mom! Was this where you ate a sandwich?!")

The home has been beautifully updated while retaining much of its original character, like these 5-panel wood doors.

Thank you for visiting - hope you enjoyed this "summery" cottage tour.

Do you have any travel plans this summer?

And have you been back to visit your childhood home/town? (Or do you still live where you grew up?)

I'd love to know!

Xo

    1. Hi Brenda ~ yes! We made some good memories, and it was a treat to stay in such a pretty place. Hope your summer is starting off well - has it gotten very hot there yet? It's supposed to hit 90 over the weekend... so Seattleites are starting to panic. I say bring it on. Lol.

  2. The entire home is charming, but I especially adore the floral rug in the living room, wow!

    1. Me too! I don't think I would've ever thought of it, but it really gives the room interest. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great weekend!
